Starting a greeting card company wasn't part of a lifelong plan. There was no perfect blueprint or million-dollar startup deck. It began with an idea, a few designs, and a gut feeling that it was time to just get started.
I spent over two decades working in professional sports. Mostly motorsports marketing in NASCAR, monster trucks, and consulting on major brand campaigns. I’ve built amazing relationships, and helped build stories that move people. But this one’s personal.
Overwatch Greeting Card Company is built around something I’ve always believed in: saying what needs to be said—especially to the people who serve, protect, and sacrifice.
The cards I'm launching with are rooted in love, humor, and sympathy, with more coming soon for the military, veteran, and first responder communities. A whole lot more! No fluff, no forced rhymes. Just honest messages and dark humor with heart.
When I was on the fence about starting this, two friends gave me the kind of blunt advice that sticks:
TJ Kirgin, entrepreneur and owner of Tactical Sh*t, told me: "This idea was given to you to bring to life. If you don’t get started, the universe will give this opportunity to someone else."
And Zoltan Bathory—monster truck driver, serial entrepreneur, Founder and rhythm guitarist for Five Finger Death Punch—put it this way: "Stop trying to make everything perfect. The only thing you need to have perfect is your parachute. That way, when you jump, you can fix everything on the way down."
So… I grabbed hold of the opportunity and I jumped.
I am starting lean. A handful of cards. No fancy launch party. No over-polished promises. But what I do have is real: authentic designs from some amazing artsists, a deep respect for those who serve, and a vision that’s growing by the day.
Together, we will build this company one card at a time.
I will listen. I will learn. I will adjust fire as needed.
If you're reading this, you’re already part of the journey. I hope you’ll stick around. Share a card. Tell a friend!
